Orissa,
in southern India is a world of lush and green
mountains with rich paddies and terraces everywhere.
You will meet a few of the various tribal groups
that inhabit this State. in particular the very
colourful and unusual Kondh, Gadabba and famed
Bonda tribe, whose animist societies are totally
separate from and in great contrast to the traditional
Hindu societies found all over India. As we explore
weekly markets be prepared to meet people whose
features are far from Asian than Indian, decorated
with facial and hand tattoos, layers of beads
covering bare breasts, piles of aluminium necklaces
and a multitude of earrings. Jeypore in Koraput
district in Orissa is feast for the eyes and cradled
in nature’s bounty. The awe inspiring sights make
Koraput a Traveller’s delight.Natrue speaks a
variety of languages, which the lover of nature
translates into joy. The breath taking scenery
brings heaven to earth. The virgin nature with

DELHI
After Breakfast meet your Guide
at the lobby of the Hotel. Visit
Old and New parts of Delhi -
each with its specific charm
and glory - makes a very interesting
city for its sustenance to medieval
and modern cultures at the same
time and space. In the first
half you will visit Old Delhi
- including Jama Masjid (Mosque),
Gandhi’s Cremation Site and
a Rikshaw ride to Red Fort followed
by the visit of Humanyuns Tomb,
Qutab Minar and a drive past
the government buildings in
Delhi. Return to hotel. |

DELHI – BHUBANESHWAR MORNING
FLIGHT
After breakfast at hotel transfer
to airport to board flight to
Bhubaneshwar. Upon arrival,
transfer to hotel.
Bhubaneshwar once former part
of the ancient kingdom of Kalinga
and today some 500 of the original
7,000 temples that studded the
area survive. The temples are
a sharp contrast with present
day relatively new city of modern
architecture. The largest temple
to visit is the Lingaraja Temple
dating from the 11th century.
The 55m high spire dominating
Bhubaneswar. The 10th century
Mukteswara Temple is considered
to be the gem of Orissa temple
architecture with an exquisitely
carved Torana (gate). Half

BHUBANESHWAR – BALLIGUDA

After Breakfast at hotel depart
by surface for BALLIGUDA, visiting
typical Orissan villages. Balliguda
falls in the district of Phulbani
- a land of beautiful mountains,
numerous villages echoing with
the rhythms of tribal culture
and forests full of adventure
and wildlife. No sooner you
approach the neighborhood of
this beautiful district then
you listen to the forests sounds,
which are as if the fairy folk
are calling you and as you drive
up and down the ghat roads you
cannot escape the inviting warm
smiles of the local people.
(If it's evening or the nightfall,
you may be surprised to see
animals like a Tiger or Cheetah
or a herd of elephants.) Upon

BALLIGUDA – RAYAGADA (165
Km /4 Hrs)
After breakfast at hotel, depart
by surface for RAYAGUDA en route
visiting the famous Kondh tribes
& their villages. which is the
biggest tribe (950,000), and
are famous in history for their
Meriah Sacrifice-Human Sacrifice
(Nowadays buffalo’s are sacrificed
instead of humans) Kondhs life
is full of festivities. The
important festivals are at the
time of sowing and harvesting.
The Kodhs belong to the Dravidian
group and speak Kui language.
Their weapon is bow and arrow
by which they defend themselves
from wild animals. Also Visit
the weekly tribal market. Upon
arrival at Rayagada, check in

Excursion
Dongaria Tribes (47 Km / 01 Hr)
Full day visit of Dhongaria tribes.
The belong to the Kondh family
and are highland settlers. They
are expert in horticulture and
extensively celebrate their annual
hunting/sowing festivals. Picnic
lunch will be provided en route.
After visiting their villages/lifestyles
return to Rayagada. Overnight. |

RAYAGADA – Chatikona – JEYPORE (220 Km / 04 Hrs)
After breakfast drive down to
Chatikona to witness the weekly
tribal market of this colourful
Donghria Kondh tribes which
occurs once every Wednesday.
It is a unique opportunity to
witness such a colourful concentration
of typical tribes at one place.
More interesting would be to
watch women in their colourlful
costumes and jewellery and of
course their barter system.
After the visit of market return
to hotel. Post lunch depart
for Jeypore- in Koraput district.
En route brief halts to visit
the low land tribes and their
settlements. Arrive
in the evening and check into

JEYPORE-ONUKUDELLI (75kms / 01 ½ Hrs)
After breakfast drive down to
Onukudelli area to see the famed
Didayi Bonda tribes. In this
district of Koraput-on the northwest
of river Machkund, live the
wildest, rudest and possibly
the most interesting tribe known
as Bonda tribe.The scanty dress
of Bonda women and homicidal
tendency of Bonda males make
them most fascinating people.
Thus they stand in sharp contrasts
from the neighbouring castes
and tribes of Orissa. The Bonda
call themselves-Remo and speak
a very difficult Austro-Asiatic
language. They are generally
agriculturists and expert cultivators.
The irrigated and terraced paddy
fields on high hills prove their
skill in rice cultivation. Inspite
of their primitiveness and so
called poverty; the Bondas enjoy
a high degree of economic sufficiency. Picnic lunch will be
provided en route. After this
visit return back to Jeypore
for Overnight. |

Excursion Praja & Sana Tribes (75 Km / 02 Hrs)
Full day visit of Paraja and
Sona tribe- weekly tribal market
on Friday and villages. The
Paraja tribes are found mostly
in Koraput district. Their language
is Parji. The Parajas have a
number of totemistic septs like
Bagh- Tiger, Bokda-goat, Netan-dog,
Panki-dove and the like, and
harming of eating of the totem
animals is strictly forbidden
and instead they should be respected.
They worship various Gods and
Goddesses residing in hills
or forests. During wedding the
Parajas resort to dance and
music. Picnic lunch will be
provided en route. Evening
return to Jeypore for Overnight. |

Excursion Lamtaput (75 Km / 02 Hrs)
Full day excursion to Lamptaput
area and visit the Gadabba tribe
and their weekly tribal market
on Saturday. The Gadabba tribes
are one of the most colourful
and most primitive tribe of
Orissa.They are one of the early
settlers of the country and
trace their origin to the time
of Ramayana. They are generally
seen in the adjoining mountain
tracts of Andhra Pradesh and
Madhya Pradesh. Their main concentration
is in the Koraput district and
their maximum population is
in Lamptaput. They have their
own language Gutab and are not
a migratory folk. They live
permanently in large villages.
Their famous dance is Demsa
and you may have an opportunity
to visit their villages and
witness this colourful dance
of the Gadabba tribes. Picnic
lunch will be provided en route. After visiting the Gadabbas
return to Jeypore for Overnight |

drive for Rayagada en route
visiting some of the Tribal
village/ settlements of the
Desia Kondh tribes. They also
belong to the famed Kondh tribes

cultivators. Witness the weekly
market and lunch en route. Arrive

RAYAGADA – TAPTAPANI (165 Km / 04 Hrs)
After breakfast checkout and
drive for Taptapnai en route
visiting the Saora tribes and
their lifestyles. The Saora
tribes are also one of the early
settlers and trace their origin
to Mahabarat. Picnic lunch will
be provided en route. Arrive
in the evening and check in
to Taptapani- Tourist Bungalow.

After breakfast depart for Puri
en route visiting Chilka Lake-
the largest brackish water lake
in Asia-spreading over 1200
sq km and is famous for its
migratory birds which comes
from as far as Siberia during
winter months. You will also
have the opportunity to see
Irawaddi Dolphins- minimum cruise
2 hrs. Lunch at the tourist
bugalw - chilka lake. After
lunch drive down to Puri- Arrive

PURI – Konark – BHUBANESHWAR (110Km / 02 Hrs)
After breakfast visit the Jagannath
Temple, craftsmen village. Thereafter
leave for Bubaneshwar. En route
Visit the Famous Konark, for
its Sun Temple “the Black Pagoda”,
standing in solitary splendour
amongst the sand dunes. The
temple is the most striking
example of Kalinga architecture
and is designed as a huge chariot
of the Sun God. Constructed
with twelve pairs of wheels
and drawn by seven exquisitely
carved and ornamented horses,
the now-ruined monument stands
in magnificent. Protected under
the World Heritage List, the
temple’s interior was filled
up in 1903 by the British to
