Spiti Valley Trek
Tour Duration: 15 Nights / 16 Days
Spiti is an isolated valley in the North Indian State of Himachal Pradesh, flanked by red, yellow and ochre coloured mountains, glaciers and high valleys. Most people in Spiti are Buddhists. Impressive gompas (Buddhist Temples) dominate the villages. The lowest point of the valley is around 3,000 m and some villages are as high as 4,250 m. Though rich in space, Spiti is poor in cultivation land. Over the centuries, man and yak have scratched out less than 10,000 sq. m in isolated patches on the flats between the river below and the glaciers above, but the searing stone-strewn flats are as dry as the valleys of the moon.
